ARTIST BIO
Dale Villajuan is a painter who lives in Surrey B.C. At a very young age his grade 1 teacher asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. He replied, an artist. Dale attended the foundation year at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. From then on, he experimented and was self-taught. His first group art show was at Federation Gallery, this experience ignited him to move forward to become an artist.
Dale’s body of acrylic artwork stems from a collection of series that is ever evolving. It is themed around a surreal dreamlike world, colors that express feelings, and a subject that matters. Dale continues to explore with paint, he is experimenting with motion pictures, and sound that compliments the themes of his art.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a painter inspired by the beauty and chaos of this world. I work primarily with acrylic paint. I express in blues and intuitively paint because the colors of blues eases my mind to a feeling of serenity and tranquil. I have something to say, sugar is like a drug, and it is addictive. Mickey on Coke is inspired by a Disney marketing campaign with Coca Cola, and I combined the two iconic images showing Mickey on a dopamine high. I have a flare for telling stories and In The Clouds is a series of images in a surreal dreamlike world. A lot goes through my mind and at this stage of my painting journey these are my painting styles.
